This may be one of my favorite movies ever. I can say for certain that it contains my all time favorite scene. The scene with Brice Parain, a french philosopher, talking to Anna Karina's character always moves me and moves me to think. I watched it again the other day.
Four years ago it was the inspiration for a work of art I made called "To ply words" which is a Duchampian pun on "Two plywoods" which describes the materials of the piece. On the two pieces of plywood I stenciled the words, "Body Error Lies Contigency". For the past 3 or 4 years that phrase has taken on a life of its own. I had forgotten what inspired it. But the other day I was watching Vivre Sa Vie and when Brice Parain started talking about human speech I remembered all of it in a quick flash. He even says all of those words in his fascinating table-talk. He says body, he says error, he says lies. I may have made up contingency myself.
