Saw Godard's Eloge D'amour. Professor David Sterrit was teaching a summer course at Columbia on the French New Wave of the 1960s and he was featuring a lot of Godard. Near the end of the semester he decided to show Godard's most recent film, not yet released in the United States. Sterrit had the distributor come in to discuss the film after we watched it (I saw the two tin cans holding the film itself). I was very sympathetic to the gentleman whose company was doing the distribution and he explained that it was going to open only in four theatres: Walter Reade, Angelika, one in LA and one in Irvine. How about that?
